Sledding! Sled Hill is popular with both children & adults. It’s located on Tinker Street in Woodstock, opposite the entrance to the Post Office. There is parking available along the side of the road. The slope can get quite busy, so please bear in mind that sleds don’t have rudders!
Cross Country Skiing & Snowshoeing
You can rent snowshoes almost anywhere you can rent skis & you can hit the trails in a lot of the same places too. The ski shops at Hunter, Windham, Plattekill and Belleayre mountains all have them available for rent as well as snowshoe trails.

If you have your own skis/shoes you can X country ski & snowshoe (on ungroomed paths) at Wilson State Park as well as Poets Walk Park.
Another great place to go is The Mountain Trails XC Skiing Center, which is a 30-minute drive north of Woodstock in Tannersville, NY.
The sales & rental store has all the necessities for your skiing and snowshoeing enjoyment and they rent the equipment that they sell so if interested you can try before you buy. The store is open weekends and holiday weeks conditions permitting from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Check their website for conditions before setting out.
